It is very important to me to keep this beautiful spot as I walk down here every day with my dog - where else is there that has such easy access to an open, green space, where you can see expanse of sky in a built up area? I count myself truly lucky. I do not need to get in my car to access this - I can just walk from my house. It fills my heart with joy on a daily basis to see the herons flying overhead, listening to the ducks on the marshes and watching the geese on the river. This is the best start to a day you can have -it doesn't matter what mood you are in when you go out, you are in a much better mood when you come back. In a few weeks, it will be 'frog season' and then we shall all be able to enjoy the sounds of the frog chorus! Then it will be duckling time and that is all we ever talk about then... Every day is different & this is the most amazing ammenity we have for such a large population of people to access and experience the varied wildlife we have literally on our doorstep. Where else can we access this? Parks just do not have the wildlife aspect - and these birds, animals and insects are just living their lives oblivious to us all. It is an absolute privilege to walk amongst this. I recently had the opportunity to consult with a very knowledgeable man who has a business on the industrial estate on this site. For a start, I did not know this existed before. There are an awful lot of jobs there that need protecting. The man I spoke to has a marble company and does top end work - this is not a low paid, low skill sector. Jobs like these need protecting. My neighbour also has a unit at the top of the hill- also included in this site. He also is a highly skilled silver spinner - who has recently taken on an apprentice. These are jobs for life, that will pay decent wages & should be protected as such.
