I agree with all the objections put forward by East Suffolk Council and Suffolk County Council. My own personal objections are-: 1.Desecration of the countryside. This project will overwhelm a small peaceful village and have a detrimental effect on it's residents. 2.Flooding - Friston has been prone to flooding due to water run off from the fields -several times over the past year. The plan to direct overflow into the ditch alongside the village green is completely inadequate especially when large parts of the surrounding fields will be covered in concrete. 3.Long term noise, dust, light and air pollution- Scottish Power have advised that security lighting will be on 24/7 resulting in damage to wildlife and nuisance to residents.Wind turbines do not harm the environment but this is not the case with the substation. There will be noise pollution from the transformers which could be heard by nearby residents. 4. Damage to the tourist industry- Friston has many second and holiday homes. It is a place the public comes to walk and enjoy the peaceful countryside. Many footpaths will be permanently closed and and the alternatives suggested by Scottish Power will follow narrow country lanes with NO pavements. 5.The site has several listed buildings nearby including the Church which will be in close proximity. The area has 5 Grade 2 and 2 Grade 2# buildings in the vicinity. 6.The whole design is flawed. Other substations have low impact buildings whereas this substation will have buildings up to 18 metres high - comparable to Friston Post Mill which is one of the highest in England. These buildings will be visible over a wide area. 7.On a personal level the value of my home has been reduced by £50000 over the past year due to Scottish Power's interest in this site. The whole project is having a detrimental effect both physically and mentally on the inhabitants of this village.
