Royal Worlington & Newmarket Golf Club has 3 Trustees - myself, Dr D. Rowley-Jones and Mr I.R.H. Pattinson. This representation is on behalf of the Trustees. As a golf club of world renown the Trustees have three main concerns ( 'though there may be more ) 1. We are vehemently opposed to Golf Links Road being used for any site traffic whatsoever either during the pre-construction, construction and post construction ( operational ) periods. The road is very narrow and not suitable for anything other than light domestic traffic. 2. As previously mentioned, we are a world renown golf club - recently voted the best 9 hole course in the world. We are very concerned about the detrimental impact this project may have on our revenues and reputation. Of main concern is noise and light pollution and of course to the local ecology. 3. From a safety point of view we are deeply concerned about the suitability of the existing junction off the A11 dual carriageway which is a fast moving road that carries significant traffic every day. Major improvements would be a pre requisite. I trust this representation is self-explanatory however if there are any queries kindly contact me.
