For a three year period up until 1960, when I took up full-time employment, I, as the son of a racehorse trainer, rode out from racing stables on numerous occasions over the glorious heath concerned in this application. With literally hundreds of race horses around one and the extensive vistas for viewing in all directions, I always felt that it was one of the most beautiful and unique experiences of its kind. Bearing this in mind I would like to emphasis my firm view that it would be a tragedy if any development were to interfere with this unique vision and experience of open country when riding out at Newmarket, the headquarters of flat racing and equine breeding. Accordingly, please may this application be refused.
