I object to the application to build this very large solar farm concentrated in a single area which will be clearly visible from many points within the surrounding countryside on the following grounds: 1. Visibility 2. The sterilisation of quality agricultural land The Government is proposing to spend huge sums on the countryside through ELMS to improve the environment, particularly where the countryside is still rural and can respond to ’re-wilding, etc.’ effectively. The Government is also ceasing subsidising agricultural produce which will make of Great Britain’s agricultural land unprofitable. It is clearly therefore nonsensical to be removing quality agricultural land which would be capable of remaining profitable without subsidy, in favour of a solar farm. The solar farm will destroy a large tract of attractive countryside and remove an area of land capable of surviving unsupported when there are many places in Great Britain where the land is not so visible and the quality is not capable of surviving on the production of agricultural produce.
