I object to this scheme for the following reasons: As a local resident, the potential dangers around the size of the batteries is a cause for concern. I understand they are capable of causing toxic fumes and if ignited and catch fire, cannot be easily extinguished, or at least not by conventional means. I also understand that such fires can burn for weeks and I have not seen any contingency plans or safety measures should this happen. I am also concerned about the heavy construction traffic that would come through our village as well as the noise and disruption to our daily life. The sheer scale of this project is absolutely disproportionate in such a rural location with over 1 million panels resulting in the destruction of 2,500 acres of productive land. Surely closing the public footpaths and destroying wildlife habitats is not what we should expect for a renewable energy project. There has been no full or proper consultation about this proposal. Sunnica has refused to engage with us, the residents and any information sessions have been 'staged.'
