Whilst billed as primarily being an environmental initiative of solar energy in reality this is a company profiteering heavily with limited benefit nationally or locally. Locally it is the residents of small rural villages with valuable green countryside and agricultural land that become part of a commercial solar park. Aside for the catastrophic impact of land loss for two generations the inadequacy of safety advice provided by Sunnica is of huge concern and as a resident of Kennett with a battery plant on the opposite side of the A11 I am very concerned about a fire in the facility, particularly given that 500 new houses are due to be build on the opposite side of the A11, adjacent to the battery plant with unthinkable consequences in close proximity if a failure were to happen. The lack of information from Sunnica throughout is a stark demonstration of their inexperience of building a BESS on this level. Common sense must prevail here, whilst the principles of solar energy are welcomed generally it needs to be by measured approach and properly thought through with appropriate mitigation’s and safety assurances in place. Sadly this proposal is ill conceived and does not address fundamental issues of concern.
