The Sunnica proposal raises multiple concerns for me: - As a parent of a young family I am deeply concerned about the proximity of huge scale batteries to my home. These pose significant fire risks and my understanding is that were this to be the case the risks to families and homes would be extensive, with an impact including needing evacuation. It is simply not acceptable to put us at such risk; - In the context of Brexit, and war in the Ukraine the use of good agricultural land for solar farms is both poorly timed and inappropriate. This land has an important function for our area and for the country more generally. - At a time of increasing awareness of environmental damage, the impact on biodiversity is significant and the consequences of such a project with the scale across a wide area can only be hugely damaging - I believe that the solar farm has a significant risk of obsolescence which would lead to the above risks being taken for only a small period of benefit. I do not feel in anyway reassured by what I have heard about how the land will be returned to its former use should this occur within the timescale of the project nor at the end of the proposed period. - Solar power does have a role in supporting our sustainability – though the scale, nature and location of this proposal seems ill thought out and vastly inappropriate.
