I object to the Sunnica Energy Farm Project going ahead for the following reasons: 1. Safety Concerns a. In the event of an industrial accident, I would be affected as a local resident and my livelihood would be impacted if I had to relocate. I work from home and do not have a backup office location. Local residents have a right to understand the potential risks of living in close proximity to potentially hazardous materials, and to receive clear information on the safety of the technology to be installed, as well as independent assessments of Sunnica’s ability to manage a solar farm of this size. b. I am concerned that the project will result in increased traffic & use of inappropriate 'cut- throughs' in the village of Snailwell, leading to more traffic accidents. Road routes into the villages of Snailwell and Chippenham will not take an increased volume of traffic resulting from busier roads/construction traffic; some routes are partly single track and there are several junctions with poor visibility and high potential for accidents. 2. Inadequate Consultation and Studies a. I object to the speed at which the process is moving, without adequate and appropriate consultation with residents. b. The project has questionable 'green' credentials. We need to ensure projects of this size benefit from independent studies on the short- and long-term environmental impact. 3. Long term effects on the village of Snailwell and surrounding areas a. I am concerned that the size of the solar farm and its undesirable impact on the landscape, will result in a decrease in property prices in the areas of Snailwell & Chippenham. Previously unspoilt views will be lost. b. I object to local land being taken away from agricultural use. We need to become less dependent on food with a high carbon footprint, which means growing more locally.
