NATS are pleased to note the developer’s awareness of the risks that the proposal carries in relation to NATS air traffic operations in the Southern North Sea and their desire to engage in consultation with NATS from an early stage. It should be noted that both the existing Dudgeon and Sheringham Shoal wind farms lie within the Greater Wash Transponder Mandatory Zone, TMZ, and the entirely of the proposed extensions do not. This TMZ was created in 2012 to “negate the impact of increasing levels of wind turbine generated primary surveillance RADAR (PSR) clutter”.
