Crossness Nature Reserve is home to many special and at-risk species, including barn owls (which fly over the fields designated for development), water voles (who are living in a stretch of water just yards from the current development), cuckoos, and many more. It is amazing to have these species in South East London and it is ridiculous to risk any disruption to them. Building on and industrialising green space is not going to help with climate change. Building huge industrial units to capture carbon and then ship it out to the bottom of the ocean somewhere is not the answer. In 10 years this will probably be considered another scandal, a huge mistake, like asbestos or cladding. Never mind that the construction of these plants and the transport of the carbon will produce tons of the very carbon we're trying to get rid of. Protect our nature!
