Cottom is 1 of 4 sites proposed for solar panels and all the sites should be assessed together as the total area is 10,000 acres. This is prime farm land for food production which we cannot afford to lose and also the skills within farming that would be affected, The solar panels would be seen from a long distance as they are 4.5 m high and have the H S E looked in detail at battery storage systems which should not be placed close to residential areas. There would also be massive disruption to the landscape and wild life due to the laying of cables to connect the site to the national grid. Solar provides power intermittently and not when it is most needed winter evenings and lastly the panels would be manufactured abroad and the construction labour force would be shipped in. On all the above points I register my objection to the Cottom solar panel project on prime farm land.
