Springthorpe Parish Meeting wishes the Inspector to reject the Application for Cottam Solar Project We are concerned that the local infrastructure (our country lanes and narrow windy village highstreets) will buckle under the strain of construction of the solar behemoths. Pedestrians on roads with no footpaths will become more unsafe, potholes and RTAs will multiply: we already live on some of the most dangerous roads in Britain In the interests of national food security we protest against the waste of thousands of acres of productive farmland in the construction of solar factories with a huge carbon footprint of their own when existing local technology ( wind) could be used to generate as much electricity without the loss of farmland. We would be sad to see our neighbouring tenant farmers disenfranchised as they are turned off their land by landlords keen to use rental to solar farms to maximise profit for trustees and investors
