As a resident of the area I strongly oppose the development. I am concerned over the scale of the project and the industrialisation of large areas of valuable agricultural land. The footprint of the site is far too large for the area and will be visual blight. Lincolnshire is a flat county and from the Lincolnshire cliff you can see miles of open countryside and it is this area (below the cliff to West Burton power station) where the proposed solar plant is to be built. It will be environmental vandalism to place it in this area. It will impact on local wildlife, the area has a healthy population of british wildlife including owls, deer, red kites, hares, foxes etc. All of this will be negatively impacted by the project. Lincolnshire is a agricultural county and vital to the nations food security. The county has already had a number of solar plants built and the West Burton power station is being ear marked as a nuclear fusion plant. As a community it is unfair that we should have to take the burden of all these schemes. I understand the need for new energy sources and support nuclear power, but I do not support the proposed solar project. The amount of energy that can be produced does not justify the loss of so much agriculturial land. Saving the environment by glazing over it does not make sense. The destruction of the English countryside is a serious issue and one that should not be taken when there are other options, such as roof top installation of solar panels, the use of old airfields or along motorways.
