I live in Springthorpe a quiet and pleasant rural conservation village in the heart of the English countryside. For many generations farmers have worked the extremely productive and beautiful arable land around here which produces well above average yields of many crops. This Solar project (along with many others in the local area - which must be viewed together to appreciate the sheer scale) will totally change the character and land usage of this rural area. It along with the others will be irredeemably ugly and turn a pleasant part of the world into an industrial wasteland. The proposed solar farms are almost universally opposed by the local residents, will also stop food production on this valuable land, destroy wildlife that the local farmers have sustained, reduce our property values and make this area a much less pleasant place to live due to the noise and traffic involved in the building and maintenance of these. It is not a question of energy security or food security we can have both but only if these solar farms are kept off good land and built in areas where nothing will be lost such as besides motorways or on old industrial/powerstation sites.
