I am shocked at the scale of this project in a prime, intensively farmed agricultural area. Scant information has been provided other than maps and bold claims of it's benefits. The benefits claimed gloss over the obvious fact that during winter months, and late evenings when power is needed the most, the panels will produce little or no electricity. I now understand it to be one of four similar projects which are being dripped in separately. This I believe is a deliberate attempt to hide the cumulative effect of these applications. Thousands of acres will be covered in these panels. No information has been received regarding the size of the panels, how many, construction time, traffic survey during that construction, environmental impact assessment, manufacturing process e.g., where they will be constructed, (possibly abroad) and just as importantly, how they will be decommissioned and scrapped at the end of their useful life. My understanding is there is currently no effective way of recycling these panels. Finally at this point, I have seen no evidence that brownfield sites have been properly considered, particularly very large areas such as RAF Scampton. I object to this application in the strongest terms, our countryside should not be destroyed simply for profit and no tangible benefit.
