It is my understanding that the Cottam proposal is Just 1 of 4 Solar schemes within a localised area and in total would cover up to 10,000 acres. This would be a vast area of our countryside that is currently used mainly for arable turned in to a mass solar farm at a time when we also need to be less reliant on food imports. Surely we must explore putting solar panels on all factory roofs and houses before we destroy good quality farming land. It will undoubtedly mean job losses within agriculture which is a high employer of the area. A scheme on this scale will have catastrophic consequences on wildlife and habitats in such a rural area.
