The hamlet of Great Stainton will be almost completely surrounded by solar panels, thus losing the country even more agricultural land. We are told that we need food producers yet this flies in the government edit. There will be considerable disruption during construction with heavy wagons on already struggling country lane infrastructure. Think pot holes becoming more like sink holes. The joy of living in the countryside will be utterly negated - may as well move into a city. The views all around will seem more like an industrial estate. Talking of which, why on earth can brown field sites not be used instead. Also, surely all new-builds of any kind should be required by law to put solar panels on roofs, and the acres of existing warehouses in the UK which could do the same surely would be a good idea. Since solar panels are more efficient during the summer months, why here in the north-east of England? One of the least sunny parts of the UK. Huge battery storage units would obviously be required, and we all know what they have a habit of doing! To say nothing of the mining of precious minerals for production. I have lived in Great Stainton for 50 years and quite frankly the thought of this proposal being approved makes me sick to my stomach. My dear late husband, who designed our home in this place because of its rural location, would have been heart-broken. So many tears will be shed if this goes ahead.
