I strongly object to the Byers Gill Solar Farm on the following grounds: Having moved to the village in the last twelve months I have found absolute joy in my daily walks around the village and onto the lanes in the surrounding area. I am genuinely dismayed at the thought of these lovely country fields becoming a solar farm and how it will impact visually. Currently the children’s school and play area overlook countryside and fields with birds and animals this will if the solar farm is approved mean that the children have to look at the solar farm every day. On my frequent walks I enjoy the peace, quiet and seeing all of the animals and birds that I have seen. The change to the solar farm will have an affect my mental health and wellbeing and most definitely on others in the village and local wildlife. Currently our village Highstreet is a lovely place where neighbours chat in passing/catch up and at Christmas we sang carols under the Christmas tree, the impact to the main Highstreet and the trees should this be given consent would be irreparable. I drive by the nearest solar panel farm being built nearby on a daily basis and it is depressing and the roads are an absolute disgrace. There are significant areas of brown land that is not agricultural or in a village area that surely could be considered. As a country we need to ensure that we have sufficient agricultural land for growing crops, the land proposed for use in my opinion should be used for crop growing.
