I grew up next to one of the proposed sites, and have spent the last 33 years walking the fields and thinking how lucky I am to have access to this area. The area is home to so much of our traditional british wildlife, inspiring a life long love of nature and respect for the world around us. I am heartbroken at the thought I might not be able to share this beautiful area with my baby, and that she may only ever experience it covered in concrete and solar panels. I do not understand how it is acceptable to consider destroying British farmland forever. This is a commodity and something that defines our country. It should be protected and preserved without question. Solar panels are meant to be an environmentally friendly way to generate energy. Surely destroying our countryside invalidates this argument? The environment is more than just balancing numbers and carbon emissions. Find an industrial site that human greed has already destroyed. I am concerned that allowing this project to go ahead will set a precedent and over the years, more and more of our beautiful country will be destroyed. Anyone reviewing this project needs to come to the area, stand in the fields and then imagine our country losing everything that makes it what it is. I appreciate that times for farmers are hard - they are for all of us. It makes me sad that this has opened them up to being manipulated and taken advantage of by these companies. There is no question that this project is not morally acceptable and I implore the deciding bodies to oppose this and not take away my home, my memories and my ability to share this with my daughter.
