I Strongly Object To the Byers Gill Solar development on this industrial scale. I am an 87 year old resident of Great Stainton, I move into the village in 1960 marrying a dairy & arable farmer. Moving from living in the Town of Darlington as a young woman I moved to the countryside, quickly adapting and cherished many years raising my family in such a beautiful area of outstanding beauty with grass fields full of cattle, with fields of Barley and Wheat. My family along with our neighbours have worked hard to maintain the land for future generations and to secure continued food production for our country which my parents and grandparents fought so hard for in the war. When I found out about the Byers Gill proposal I was in disbelief as to how such an expanse of good quality agricultural land which has produced such good crops over the years could be allowed to be taken out of food production and put into industrial solar panels for 40 years + There must be other alternatives in this country for not only more effective energy sources such as wind, but other means of solar such as house roofs, industrial buildings. Taking prime agricultural land out of production on this scale is criminal to our landscape, not to mention the disruption to our villages via the roads which the industrial vehicles will be travelling. I do hope that you will read the many objections from our residents and re-consider this proposal for the sake of future generations and the food security of our country.
