I want to register my objections to the Byers Gill Solar Farm Project The size of the project is outrageous as including other local projects nearly 2000 acres will be covered by solar panels stretching from Darlington to Stockton creating an industrial area as opposed to the pleasant rural area we currently enjoy. I object to the use of productive farmland which is needed to feed an increasing population and is vital as world food prices rise Solar farms should be on low grade land or current brown sites but I question their efficiency anyway? It should be made compulsory for solar panels to be on new builds and commercial and industrial businesses encouraged to install them on buildings and car parks. The whole project is untenable, a waste of resources and any investment should be directed to using wind power which is far more efficient and has a lower carbon foot print
