I strongly object to the Byers Gill Solar Farm Development for the following reasons: Byers Gill will be significantly larger than other solar farms proposed. Their appears to be little or no consideration of the cumulative e?ect. The impact this will have on locals is significant and there are more effective ways of generating energy such as offshore wind farms. Whilst I do not object to solar as a concept, the sheer scale of this proposal would impact the landscape and the local community significantly. Where there are currently unobstructed views of the countryside, the installation of a massive solar farm with perimeter fencing would destroy this beautiful area. In addition, there are increased pressures on crops and surely retaining some of this land would be of benefit if farmed. I would strongly urge the Planning Inspectorate to do the right thing and reject this proposal – we must not ruin agricultural land and our countryside when other, more efficient, alternatives are available.
