I strongly object to this enormous solar plant in our area. There are way too many that have already been given the green light by local our councils. I understand some landowners wish to make money in this way, rather than farming the land they have been handed down but it should not be to the detriment of everyone else. These solar panels are hideous, destroy wildlife, catch fire, are noisy, can be destroyed by both wind and hail, you can't graze animals under them as they suggest in their pretty adverts and brochures. People are being sucked into the whole "green energy" thing by not being told the full facts - panels being transported all the way from China - how is that ECO??? It costing 1 million pound per megawatt to install before any energy is produced. The figures don't add up and when it all goes wrong in a few years, which it will - acres and acres of farmland will be destroyed and a multi million pound company in Germany will control what happens to it until the 40 year agreement is ended. RWE who have changed their ownership half way through the project, which in itself shouldn't be allowed, have been shocking in their consultations and communications, with locals having to find information themselves. They have even tried to charge for copies of stuff. They are advertising that they have already had the go ahead, which raises large alarm bells. How can they advertise that when it is apparently only in the consultation phase? Or is it a case of just ticking boxes until it gets the green light? RWE have no consideration for any of the local heritage sites, any of the birds or wildlife, all of the endangered species. The area is known to have lots of established badger sets along. This year alone there has been more flooding than ever before across all panels areas, this has not been covered properly by RWE in their documentation either and part of it was added to the site at a later date than was required.
