As a community we stand to lose over 2,600 acres of agricultural land and wildlife habitat if all of the potential developments are granted permission. Byers Gill itself is 1,356 acres of land which presently is used for food production and is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Land which will never be returned to nature once it has been industrialised. The process of creating these "farms" will generate significant amounts of traffic on our normally peaceful roads. Roads which in places are not designed for such heavy vehicles. As well as the noise generated, subsidence could also be an issue to our properties. The horrendous visual effect of these developments will completely destroy the character of the village and it's surrounding area. Given the proximity to our homes this can only have a massive effect not only on the quality of our lives, but also the immediate loss of value to our homes.
