I want to object to the proposed development of Byers Gill Solar Development. My wife and I moved to Bishopton 20 months ago - to a small rural village with a great community spirit. I was devastated to learn of the proposed Solar Development because of its sheer size! It engulfs a number of small villages and actually links up with a number of other solar developments listed under different titles so the whole impact is horrendous. Driving to any of the villages will be like driving through an industrial estate. The visual landscape will negatively change beyond compare to say nothing of the impact of wildlife! Agricultural land will be rendered useless for approximately 40 years (speaking to farmers, sheep grazing around the panels is nonsense) This means that food production both animal and arable will be negatively impacted. To top this studies have shown that solar farms are not efficient at producing energy so all of this damage will be for little gain. If and its a big IF solar energy is so good, why is there not a policy for EVERY new home to be built with solar panels on the roof and why aren't there subsidies for every home to install the panels? Using prime farmland seems an easy way out to meet artificial targets in a non efficient manner.
