I wish to wholeheartedly OBJECT to the Byers Gill Solar Development. The development is far too large for the villages it surrounds and will dwarf them leaving very little countryside. As a resident it will be like living in an industrial area. The development surrounds the local village school and from research, is far too close for the safety of the school children. The construction of the site will be detrimental to village life with HGVs and will negatively impact on quality of life. The roads surrounding the village are often flooded and the subsequent mud is dangerous as has been seen near other sites already being developed. Cable routes are planned passing my house which will be extremely inconvenient. It will destroy the country feel of the village. With the recent rain and changing weather conditions many crops have failed and subsequently food prices will rise - we need more agricultural land, not less. The biodiversity of the area will be negatively impacted with so much land taken up with panels and batteries, changing the microclimate of those areas. JMB solar and its new owner RWE have not listened to the voices of residents - rather they are trying to bulldoze ahead for profits whilst the villagers are left living in an undesirable landscape instead of the rural village they chose. the amount of stress this is causing is horrendous and should be stopped as soon as possible!
