As a resident of Bishopton I am appalled at the thought of good crop producing land that the Byers Gill Solar Farm is proposed to be placed. There is so much opposition to this type of project coming not only from residents in the proposed area but also from the UK Government. The UK prime Minister has stated from the dispatch box that these type of projects should not be placed on good food producing land. Plenty of evidence of government opposition can be found in the House Of Commons Library. Imagine the benefits to the Environment if every large building in the UK had solar panels on their roof tops e.g. super markets. In my opinion these are the the places that should be installing solar panels as a priority. In addition, the lives of many people will be greatly effected by this project over a considerable period of time. Even the Labour Party have stated their policy on these types of projects leaving the final decisions down to local people.
