I object to the Byers Gill scheme because of its location which is too close to a rural village and the scale of the scheme which, along with other local solar farms, will dominate the local area. Also a scheme of this size should not be put on quality productive agricultural land as this outweighs any contribution the scheme makes to net zero. Recently a ministerial statement was made to Parliament today urging councils not to approve planning permission for solar farms on high-quality farmland, in order to protect food security. This principle should be applied when considering this scheme application.
