Due to difficulty in obtaining forms for some villagers using the established methods summarised by you,to meet the date of the 26th August 2014, may we request a push back of that date by several weeks so as to enable all correspondance to be completed? I explained to you on the telephone, that i am unable to disclose names and addresses under the data protection act, therfore would it be possible for you to send me 40 blank forms for me to disribute to the residents so as to get them to post to you with there additonal objections. I feel that three weeks is insuficient time for this to be carried out. The planning applications, which are very large, are only at National Grid Office Nailsea, or Weston Town Hall. Not all the residents are on the net. The original date from NG is proving far to close to be met.

Advice given

Our advice note 8.3: How to register and become an interested party in an application advises that ?In order to enable the efficient and accurate processing of representations, paper forms can only be made available to named individuals and it is not possible for multiple hard copies to be issued for copying and wider distribution." The reason for this is to ensure that the people we are sending the forms to want to engage in the process and to stop people registering other people who might not be aware that they are being registered. The advice note can be seen here: http://infrastructure.planningportal.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Advice-note-8-3v4.pdf

The purpose of registering as an interested party is so that that person can take part in the examination. Relevant representations are used by the Examining Authority to help identify the initial principal issues for examination. If a party makes a good point in their relevant representation then it is a good point regardless of how many times it is made.

The period for registering as an interested party is set by the applicant and must be at least 28 days. The registration period for the Hinkley Point C Connection application opened on 12 July and runs until 26 August and is therefore 45 days. It is not possible for the Planning Inspectorate to extend this period therefore I suggest that the residents either individually telephone our customer services line on 0303 444 5000 and request a form be sent to them or residents who do not have internet access could make an online application at an internet enabled library.

Alternatively, if the residents have the same opinion on the application they may wish to form a group and either you or one of them could complete one form on their behalf.
