I strongly object to the proposals to expand still further Luton airport. The reasons for this are: The airport has already grown too far and too fast. It has doubled its number of passengers over the last 15-20 years, more than any other airport that serves London. Luton airport has consistently failed to comply with its own expansion plans and has constantly exceeded its own growth plans for numbers of passengers etc. This airport is simply in the wrong place and local infrastructure cannot support yet another growth in flights and passenger numbers. In the world of global warming there should not be what is a local airport like Luton promoting a significant further increase in carbon emissions from aircraft and cars/buses using the airport. Local transport infrastructure is already overwhelmed. Local roads cannot support the proposed increase in traffic that will come from these plans if they are approved. As the airport is owned by the local council, there is great concern that councillors want to further increase this airport for the wrong reasons. Luton council just ignores protests from surrounding councils and residents. Aircraft noise over Harpenden where I live has become a real problem in recent years after previous increases in aircraft traffic. Despite repeated promises to improve this the problem has only got worse. Noise will become intolerable with this proposed over expansion.
