I do not agree with any airport expansion. We are in a climate emergency. Significant tipping points are upon us, and we have recently been told that we are likely to go over 1.5 degrees of warming between now and 2027. To even consider growing flight capacity is utter insanity. The so-called benefits of expansion (job creation etc) could all be achieved via alternative projects. Talk about airports being carbon neutral is greenwashing to the extreme, given that this all ignores the emissions from flights, which are significant. To think that it is acceptable to play an active part in jepordising our children's future by knowingly and willfully increasing emissions is shameful. All those pushing for airport expansion need to read the science about climate change. There are thousands and thousands of papers on the topic, all of which agree that this is the biggest threat we face. To deny the devastating impact that airport expansion will have is criminal.
