Main issues concern the impact the expansion will have on the mental and physical health of Luton residents, removal of park land for recreation, further council debt impacting social services for residents. Affects of pollution and noise upon the immediate and surrounding residents and countryside. Not in accordance with global obligations to acknowledge climate change and limit flying by demand management, not expansion. Pre-expansion activities including DART, overspent, with auditors predicting a write down of £187.4M for council taxpayers. Major road upgrades required between the M1 and A1M required to deal with sheer volume of traffic, more expense. Airspace change AD6 was imposed upon us with no consultation, affecting every aspect of our lives. Planes flying over a rural hamlet at altitudes of 4,500ft, sometimes every 2 minutes. Unable to sleep, enjoy our garden or socialise outside as normal conversation drowned out by aircraft noise. Pollution affecting (REDACTED) , our home is blighted by aircraft noise and we have been denied the opportunity to make an informed choice of where we live. We feel unable to stay in our family home, AD6 has given insight into how unbearable it would be to have to live with the noise and pollution if the expansion proposal is granted. The expense is not justified and funds should be directed to the infrastructure projects linked to Heath and social care.
