The expansion of the airport will lead to an increase in air pollution, [REDACTED}. The destruction of wigmore park will get rid of trees and fauna that are so vital to the park’s wildlife in the face of climate change and destruction of natural habitats. Everyone will be deprived of a sought after green space, which are already under threat with plans to build houses on the green belt. Rather than focus on new expansion in Luton and the destruction of Wigmore Park, the council should instead push funding into existing problems like deteriorating roads and housing, lack of infrastructure, dwindling shops and youth places, and rubbish left on the street. Luton’s town centre has been depleted with shops that shut replaced by cheap businesses that close down after a few months due to high rents. The town centre and Luton used to be a place where people and cultures thrives but is now run down. The expansion of the airport is to prop up a facade and help attract tourists and high profile figures use the airport while the town is neglected and crying out for help.
