As a Harpenden resident, I'm subject to aircraft noise, and the pollution that comes with it, on a daily basis. I've been informed that, although there is a promise of new technology which will make aircraft quieter, the technology for 'reduced noise aircraft' is not currently fully in place and isn't likely to be fully in place by the time that an additional 250 flights a day is proposed to be achieved. Clearly, with each additional flight, there will be increased noise, air pollution and road traffic issues. I don't get the impression that Luton Council and London Luton Airport owners have any intention of compensating people who live around Luton Airport for the negative effects on there health and wellbeing as a consequence of the proposed expansion. The conclusion I have reached is that SOME people will make a lot of money from the expansion of London Luton Airport and a A LOT of people will suffer to enable SOME people to get richer. Therefore, I strongly object to the plans to expand the capacity of London Luton Airport from 18 million passengers, annually, to 32 million passengers, annually.
