The expansion of the airport in particular for myself as a resident of Cutenhoe Rd will lead to significantly longer periods of the day when indoor noise levels for 10-15 seconds intervals, upwards of 15 times an hour, are 65-80 decibels, a level of sound rated unacceptable in daytime in Luton Risings submissions. All conversations / phone calls / listening to music etc must regularly be paused as a flight comes over. (All our window are double glazed, our new extension has sound insulation velux windows. However on days like the one on which i write doors and windows are necessarily open, or i am outdoors and the noise is even more intrusive. More generally while the airport ground operations are planned to be carbon neutral, the daily increase in flight capacity will considerably increase the carbon output of the airline industry. While the carbon neutral aspirations of Luton BC are commendable, the impact of increased carbon output is not limited by borough boundaries. we simply cannot facilitate global increases.
