As a resident of Stopsley I am concerned about the destruction of long established trees, wildlife habitat and the loss of greenspace as a result of this project. I do not see how this supports the objective of the Local Authority to protect the environment and promote health. I am also concerned about the impact upon the commute to work, and travel in general around Luton given that this is only one of several major works that will be happening. The increase in traffic caused in an area that is already congested at peak times and the consequential impact on air pollution/quality from queuing and increased traffic. All of this in a town where the LA's stated objective is also to reduce reliance on cars and increase use of walking cycling and public transport. I do not see how this project enhances that stated aim and works for the benefit of residents of the area affected.
