Increase in road traffic: We live on a narrow country lane (two cars cannot pass abreast outside our house) with no pavement on either side. Church Lane is already used as a 'rat run' between Stevenage and Luton and, in the 30 years we have lived here, we have seen a substantial increase in passing (often speeding) traffic, especially in the last decade. We are concerned about the impact of airport expansion on this traffic. Air pollution: [Redacted]. During a Luton Airport consultation exercise at Whitwell Village Hall at which expansion plans were presented, I asked for further information about the possible impact of such huge airport expansion on local air pollution. My details were taken by the Airport representatives and I was promised that I would be sent information. This never happened. My concerns remain. Noise: In recent years I am increasingly wakened aircraft noise during the night and in the very early hours. Given the proposed significant increase in flights, nighttime noise will be intolerable. All this is in the context of the fundamental conflict of interest in the position of Luton Council and Governmental environmental objectives.
