I believe that due to unique contribution made by Luton Rising already to the breadth of front-line services in Luton that together this has totalled nearly £500m since 1998 will increase. It should be noted that for every passenger travelling through, 53p is invested directly in the local community: 20 times that of any other UK airport. The sustainable long-term growth will deliver a projected 4,400 new jobs in Luton and 6,100 more in the three counties, plus economic growth of £1.5bn per annum. Luton Rising has gone further than any other UK airport to minimise and mitigate the environmental effects of the proposed growth, putting forward a unique Green Controlled Growth framework that will set independently-monitored limits for each of the four main scalable impacts (of noise, carbon emissions, surface access and air quality) beyond which growth cannot take place and this ensures for the first time in the UK that an airport expansion will not be delivered at the expense of the environment, and provides certainty for residents.
