We are pleased to learn that Luton Rising has submitted its application for the long-term sustainable growth at the airport. We would like to express support for its objectives and its application for development consent. Be Active is one of 43 Active Partnerships across England and we are inspiring Bedfordshire to Move More. We work to ensure movement is part of everyone's day to day life, in particular we look to address the inequalities around access to physical activity across Bedfordshire and Luton. Our vision is to have a Healthier and Happier Bedfordshire as well as working to break down barriers to ensure everyone in the county has an equal opportunity to access physical activity. In the work we do we see how the community and voluntary sector benefit from the financial support offered via the charitable grant fund, which is available because of the airport. These organisations would not be able to do the valuable work they do without accessing grants and the growth of the airport will support this further. Luton Rising identifying a potential increase in this area of £13m per year by the mid-2040s will benefit those who need the most support to be physically active. In addition to the support on offer to the voluntary sector, the airport continuing to support economic activity and increase the job opportunities in the area, all contributes to addressing the inequalities individuals and families face. Physical activity is an essential part of wellbeing but of course it is only part of the piece, people need an environment that enables them to thrive and this includes work and housing. We are passionate about an active environment where people can move in a safe and environmentally friendly space so we are pleased to hear that the Airport is serious about growing in a green and sustainable way. It is important to physical and mental wellbeing of the population that Luton Rising intends to set limits for carbon emissions, air quality, noise and traffic. We look forward to hearing about the progress made and the positive impact for Luton.
