Air travel is a contributor to harmful climate change. However, I recognise that many people need to or want to fly for various reasons. I welcome the environmental and social commitments which are being made as part of this application, which set an example for other airports across the UK and the world. I know that local stakeholders including Luton Council will be checking the progress of the airport expansion to ensure that promises are upheld in relation to carbon impact and social benefit.
