Climate change will affect everyone as well as the ecosystems on the planet. Expanding Luton airport will only add to carbon emissions and will therefore warm the planet further, causing yet more damage to the climate and biodiversity. It is inconsistent with the Government's legally binding carbon emissions ie the climate change act and our net zero target by 2050. I regard that as inadequate, and think that UK fires, absolute zero paper is a much more realistic program for decreasing the carbon budget. We need less flying not more. This proposal will have a severe and adverse effect on the quality of life of everyone in the area. Countryside will be destroyed ( we're supposed to be promoting biodiversity) and there will be increased noise from the flights and the associated traffic to and from the airport. Luton airport already breaches the noise conditions placed on it. There will be a doubling in flights and an increase in night flights. The WHO makes it very clear that a good quality of sleep is essential for good health. So an expansion of the airport will have a detrimental effect on the health of people in the area. There will be a decrease in air quality too. Again people's health will be negatively impacted.
