I have lived in Breachwood Green since 1979 and have seen the number of flights rise considerably since then, reducing my quality of life in this lovely area. My three main objections to the proposal to increase passenger numbers are as follows. (1) A few years ago I invested in high quality double glazing but the noise of the aircraft is so loud that I have to keep my windows closed 99% of the time even in hot weather. Sometimes there is only a 1-2 minute gap between each flight taking off. If I sit outside the noise and frequency of flights makes it very difficult to hold conversations with neighbours. (2) My second objection to the proposal to increase passenger numbers up to 32 mppa is that the Government should be investing in greener transport such as trains and coaches so that many destinations will be easily accessible and affordable without being environmentally damaging as is flying. (3) My third objection is that in order to enable these extra passengers travel to Luton Airport, changes will be made to the surrounding roads and traffic will become busier and this will increase air pollution and noise for local residents.
