  • Growth of Luton Airport over the years has seen significant impact on the surrounding country in terms of increased surface traffic and congestion, aircraft noise. - The noise proposals do not meet the Government's policy aims of minimising or reducing levels and sharing the benefits of new noise reduction technology with surrounding communities - While attempts are being made to reduce fossil fuel consumption with increased engine efficiency, there is no reasonably foreseeable future for aviation without hydrocarbon driven pollution. It is inevitable that any expansion of Luton Airport will result in increasing pollution/greenhouse gasses. - The suggested economic benefits of growth come at the cost of substantial enviromental costs - The justification of increased demand does not take full account of the growth plans of the other London area airports, and their ability (current prove and future) to offer services to the same market as Luton. It is quite possible in any case that demand management policies may be implemented by central Government to support Jet Zero targets - There must be serious questions whether Luton Rising at senior level have any aviation experience, and in fact intend to leave any development of the airport to the concessionaire, and must question if is this a sustainable and proper arrangement given the scale of the proposals
