My concerns and objections are 4 fold. 1). SAFETY. I live directly below the flight path in LU1 3RW, roughly 5 to 10 seconds from the planes touching down on the runway, so I hear when the landings are aborted, as the acceleration is disturbingly noisy. Currently planes aborting landing happens most days, sometime more than once a days, so increasing numbers from 18m to 32m, logically it will lead to more abortive landings. There are 4 schools directly between my home and the end of the runway, what safety steps will be taken to protect the children? 2). POLLUTION. I regularly see aircrafts jettisoning fuel over Stockwood Park and my home, what pollution safety checks being done? What penalties are in place? Who will take responsibility for air pollution the school children and I will be subjected to? 3).OPERATIONAL HOURS. Most government policies for airports relating to aircraft noise use the 57db LAeq(16 hour) threshold. We currently experience aircraft noise 24 hours of the day & night. The LLA website states regarding noise "LLA adopts a continuous descent approach(CDA)that significantly reduces noise. Fundamentally CDA keeps an aircraft higher off the ground for longer", however, being a few seconds away from landing the aeroplanes are close to the ground and our home, so at their noisiest. LLA monitor departing aircraft noise, however, they do not mention monitoring of the landing aeroplanes. What measures and rules will be implemented to adhere to the 16 hour threshold in line with government policies? 4). NOISE DISTRURBANCE AND SOUND PROOFING. If the expansion is allowed, the increased numbers of aeroplanes will make our gardens so noisy and as a result stop us being able to use the amenity, what compensation will we receive? Last year we were given a £3,000 allowance towards sound proofing our home, however, this was not enough to cover the cost for windows to 1 room, so to have the work done we had to pay an additional £900. Full assessments of our homes should be made to minimise sound and vibration and if the expansion goes ahead the cost should be covered by LLA.
