  1. The scale of the climate crisis means rapid decarbonisation of our transport system is absolutely essential. Doubling of passenger numbers will do exactly the opposite. 2. The Govt's own climate change committee has said that the number of flights must reduce, via demand management. The expansion will do the opposite. 3. The most recently published accounts from Luton Rising show the airport losses over the last 3 years exceed £500m. The financial viability of their proposal is highly questionable. 4. The local infrastructure could not cope with a doubling of passenger numbers, and the new Luton DART is so expensive (highest cost train journey per mile in the UK) that passengers will avoid this way of connecting with the terminal.
