Having lived in Slip End for over 40 years, aircraft traffic has increased considerably over the years. Whilst most of the very noisy early aircraft have been updated over the years, the number of aircraft movements have increased considerably. This has had a significant effect on my quality of life. Soon after going to bed, I am awoken by aircraft takin off also awoken from approx. 6am by almost continual aircraft taking off. Aircraft taking off in a westerly direction used to veer sharply to the left gaining height over fields. However, some years ago the contours were changed and aircraft now more or less take off in a straight line over Slip End Village and our property. This has meant a significant increase in both noise and pollution. The noise and pollution monitors are on the outskirts of village therefore do not record the true effects. Luton is one of the most polluted towns in the UK, caused by both the M1 traffic and aircraft omissions. The proposed increase in passenger numbers and subsequent aircraft movements, will if passed, only increase noise pollution levels. Passenger arrivals/departures to/from airport, fly parking, Airport parking transfers from village will not only increase traffic problems, but again more pollution.. Passengers will not use the new Dart link as the most expensive airport transfer system per mile in the country. I believe the proposed increase in passenger numbers is not warranted and strongly object to it.
