I wish to strongly oppose the expansion of Luton Airport from 18 to 32 million passengers a year for the following reasons: Air pollution [REDACTED] and am sure I am affected by the pollution caused by the aircrafts and the extra traffic accessing the airport. Before the airport developed I did not suffer from this problem. Noise We have double glazing but are still adversely affected by the noise pollution. We are woken by planes taking off at 4.00 in the morning i.e cargo planes and I especially in the holiday season. This is an ongoing problem, and the noise continues through the day. Traffic on local roads The volume of traffic has greatly increased, leading to hold ups and increased pot holes. People are using the village and surrounding roads as a rat run to get to the airport. Effect on village life The expansion of the airport, and associated building will badly effect our quality of life, peace and well -being. Destruction of animal habitat The proposed destruction of Wigmore Park, a green oasis on the outskirts of Luton, which is teaming with wild life and flora, including orchids, is appalling. The government is supposed to be protecting our wild life, and vegetation. This proposed development does just the opposite.
