I am exceedingly concerned about the impact that the proposed expansion of London Luton Airport on my quality of life and on the environment in general. When my wife and I moved to Welwyn Village some 16 years ago, we experienced very little noise from planes taking off and landing at Luton and, whilst there has been some increase in noise levels over the intervening period, it is only in the last couple of years that there has been a major change. I don't know if changes have been made to the approved flight paths, or whether it is because the carriers have been updating their fleet, but planes taking off from Luton are now routinely overflying my property at a low level, and across the parish as a whole. These flights start from about six o'clock in the morning and are very noisy. This situation will be made considerably worse with any further increase in airport capacity and will have a major detrimental effect on our quality of life. I am also concerned about the environmetal impact the proposed expansion will have. After many years of scepticism and prevarication by politicians and by many others with vested interests, it is now generally accepted that we are facing a climate emergency and proposals to expand the airport are completely at odds with this situation. In conclusion, I am totally opposed to the currently proposed expansion of London Luton Airport.
