Primarily environmental concerns. Noise, pollution, increased traffic and effect on local communities as a result. The airport is one of the most crowded that I know. We make use of current aviation services which stretch the available space to the limit. Already it is the most badly maintained airports that we use,showing dirty, crowded, piecemeal enlargement . Any enlargement will multiply its current organisational inefficiencies . The check-in , passport control , luggage reclamation services are all hopelessly overwhelmed even at mildly busy times . Enlargement will multiply the chaos within the airport as well as blanketing the local area with more traffic , pollution and noise. An absurd planning application built on denial of current chaotic inabilities which will only worsen if these plans approach reality.
